WolfWatch Europe is a new initiative launched by Green Impact in response to the recent EU decision to downgrade the protection status of the wolf. It serves as an information gateway dedicated to wolf-related developments across Europe. The platform provides updates on scientific research, science diplomacy, legal frameworks, litigation cases at both EU and Member State level, emerging policies, key events, economic analysis and
cultural perspectives.

Wolf Watch Europe is an initiative established to meet the growing need for a centralized and authoritative information hub on the downlisting of the wolf (Canis lupus) at EU level. The project aims to support informed, evidence-based advocacy efforts challenging the implementation of this decision across Member States. Furthermore, WolfWatch Europe will monitor wolf downlisting under the Bern Convention, highlighting its implications for wolf management and culling in countries such as Switzerland, Norway, and others. By disseminating reliable scientific, legal, economic and policy information, the initiative seeks to support stakeholders to engage effectively in protecting wolf populations across Europe.
